I think it builds up your tolerance for people in general. Even while pregnant, every decision you make is for your baby, not for you. Your world is no longer revolving around you. But when you are a mom, everything is completely different. Before, you see moms and you respect moms. Despite preeclampsia, my blood pressure was never out of the ordinary.īecoming a mom changed me as a person. Toward the end of my pregnancy, it was just a matter of a few days where I went from being monitored due to high protein in my urine, to being induced and giving birth to James, my son. I think pregnancy and giving birth to him changed my health for the better. He regulated my body and increased my platelet count. Amazingly, I think that my son kept me healthier than when I wasn't pregnant. With Lupus, my body attacks itself regularly, so the risk of miscarriage was high early in pregnancy. But I had to constantly remind myself not to get stressed out because stress isn't good for a pregnant mom. I was also monitoring my lupus and flare ups, so it was highly stressful. ![]() I work in security at the hospital, and we were in the height of COVID-19. As a first-time mom, I was always scared. I think all people that had a pregnancy during COVID had a unique experience. ![]()
